What you need to know about getting farsightedness treatment in Brooklyn and Manhattan
In these toggles we explain what you need to know about farsightedness
Farsightedness, also known as hyperopia, is a common ocular condition that makes it difficult to see things clearly close-up.
Symptoms of farsightedness include:
- Blurred vision
- Needing to squint to see close up objects properly
Farsightedness occurs when the eyeball is too short. This prevents incoming light from focusing directly on the surface of the retina, and instead, it focuses the light behind it.
We can detect farsightedness by performing a comprehensive eye examination which includes a refraction assessment and an eye health exam.
The most effective way of treating farsightedness, if you wish to be free of glasses and contact lenses, is with refractive laser eye surgery or lens replacement.
Types of refractive surgery for farsightedness include:
- LASIK – This is the most common form of laser eye surgery and is suitable for over 90% of patients.
- Refractive lens exchange
After a complete evaluation, we will be able to determine which surgery is best for you.
Refractive surgery is only possible once your farsightedness has stabilized, this is usually by your early 20s.

Dr. Khosrof is an outstanding physician and surgeon with a great bedside manner. As a fellow Ophthalmologist, I have always been impressed by his talent.
Dr. Khosrof improved my eye sight from 20/400 to 20/80. I had previously see 2 other retina specialists and 1 optometrist and none of them were able to help me. He’s terrific!
